ICO Convert is a free online icon maker and favicon generator, with it you can make icons from png or jpg images, just upload a photo of yourself, resize and crop it, convert to a shape you like, add borders and shadows, and save it as a PNG image or Windows icon. Open the Chrome browser on your Mac and visit the website that you want to add the shortcut to. Once the website loads in Chrome browser, select the the entire URL to the website in the Address bar of Chrome browser. Next, click and drag the URL address to the Mac desktop. This will create a shortcut to the website on the desktop of your Mac.
You can create custom folder icons by using only the software that comes with your Mac. By taking the existing folder icon graphic and bringing it into Preview, you can tint the color and then add text, emoji or shapes to create a useful custom folder icon. Changing folder icons can be a little tricky and buggy, however. You can also use graphics apps to create more highly-customized icons and download icons online to use.
Image editor (optional): I used Adobe Photoshop. This just makes the icons look a little. Icons have come a long way in the past decade, evolving from tiny, pixelated pictures into glossy, gorgeous artwork. Adding a custom icon to an application, document, or folder has evolved, too.
